Pretty Pink January Wedding at Stewarts Bay Lodge

For this January wedding at Stewarts Bay Lodge, the brief was soft pinks with plenty of foliage.

  We are lucky in Tasmania that our Protea Pink Ice flower pretty much all year round, so there's always something pink to work with, but to make something extra special for this special couple, I dialled up the the pink!

Clear pink hydrangeas perfect for the picking, were great in the bouquets.  I used the hydrangeas and Pink Ice proteas along with Scarlet Ribbons pincushions which have a softer colour when they first begin to flower.  

  

Other ingredients you can see are the shiny Silver Tree cones, dusky silver Brunia "berries", some soft green sea holly, and pinky-purple Hebe.  

Foliages used are variegated pittosporum, and Risdon Peppermint gum.  

For the groom, Safari sunset leucos in their deep Burgundy summer colour, hydrangea, sea holly, peppermint gum and Hebe.

For the dads, no hydrangea but some little Jubilee Crown leuco cones were added.  

Its a very satisfying thing to line up all the boutonnieres - they always look so happy!

The lovely bride provided some birdcages to fill with flowers.  These were to hang from hooks on the lawn overlooking the bay at Stewarts Bay Lodge.  As can be the case in Tassie, the weather had different ideas and the ceremony was held indoors.  

I decided these looked best with the flowers and foliage spilling out through the bars.

For the reception, we made a long bridal table garland to sit in front of the bride and groom.  It was full of pincushions, hydrangea, brunia, sea holly and foliages.  

For the guests tables, vases filled with more of the same.  Lots of foliage including some top the beautiful shiny Silver Tree foliage.  

The table numbers were added with little peg picks.  I think combining the table number and the flowers works well in terms of minimising clutter on the tables and creating an overall look.  

Stewarts Bay Lodge is a great venue filled with natural light.

February Wedding at Stewarts Bay Lodge

This February wedding was held at Stewarts Bay Lodge on the Tasman Peninsula.  It's a great venue where the bridal party and guests can all stay on site.  It means there's no rush, and it creates a very relaxed atmosphere.  Of course, there's also the chance to explore and enjoy the wonderful natural environment of the Tasman Peninsula.  (I'm not biased, I promise!)

For the bride, the colours ranged from creamy white, through peachy and blush tones to pink.  The main flowers used were Protea White Ice,  Protea Pink Ice,  a pink Protea Repens, Leucospermum Fountain, and Leucospermum Scarlet Ribbons.  I also used Brunia Albiflora, and some gorgeous creamy white Corymbia Ficifolia - Flowering Gum.  

The details include poppy pods, tea tree and Silver Tree Leucadendron.  

Foliages used were Risdon Peppermint, and Irish Juniper.

I also added some light coloured Misty.  

For the men, more of the pretty flowering gum, with peppermint foliage, Irish Juniper and Misty.  The groom had an added poppy pod.

Flowering gum is one of my favourite February natives.

Inside for the bride and grooms table,  there was a garland of flowering gum and foliage, with Brunia and Leucospermums added.

Each table had a trio of vases sitting on a log round, with more flowers matching the theme. 

I really enjoyed the cake decoration for this wedding.  The amazing (and I hear it tasted fabulous too) cake was made by Natasha from Lily May Cake Design.  I felt priviledged to be able to decorate it!

Lots of dried native vines were woven together with flowering gum, wax flower, misty, and foliage to create a magical looking cake. 

I really enjoyed being involved in this wedding - its always lovely to create something for a couples special occasion.  

I hope it created lots of happy memories for them!

February Wedding at Saffire Freycinet

Last February, I was privileged to provide flowers for a special wedding at Saffire Freycinet.  Saffire is an amazing luxury resort on the Freycinet Peninsula on the East Coast of Tasmania.

With spectacular views and amazing architecture, Saffire is a very special place.

My lovely bride and groom had planned their day to a tee, and it really was a treat to be involved.   

The ceremony took place on the private beach at Saffire, looking across the water at the Hazards mountains.  Such a special spot!  

Setting up was a challenge due to the tides, but with everyone on deck to help, we made it in time.

Decorations for the ceremony included chair decorations, and flowers to decorate the arch.

I loved the chair decorations, using Brunia, Silver Tree, Banksias, and lots of foliage, with navy ribbon to match the bridesmaids dresses.

The boardwalk heading down to the beach was dotted with little signs, with floral decorations.

I loved the details for the ceremony.  

There were flowers for the drinks table at the ceremony.

For the bouquets, the colours were kept low key.  There were lots of silvery greens, with Silver Tree foliage, Risdon Peppermint foliage, Irish Juniper, and Banksia foliage. Each bouquet also had some Lambs Ears - such beautiful soft foliage which seemed to contrast so well with the spiky zig-zag Banksia leaves. 

The bride's bouquet featured Banksia Baxterii at the front (Birdsnest Banksia), Banksia Speciosa to the left of it,  a shimmering Silver Tree cone next to it, and Brunia Albiflora at the top of the picture.  A creamy white Protea Repens was also used.  

The bridesmaids bouquets were similar, but without the Banksia Speciosa and Protea Repens.  Leucadendron Pisa, a green leuco with silvery white cones was used throughout the arrangements for the wedding.  There were also touches of blue with Sea Holly.  Special creamy white Hydrangea Paniculata were used in each of the bouquets too.  And you can see other details like Nigella pods, white Hypericum berries, and poppy pods.  Lots of wonderful textures!

Simple boutonnieres for the men using the zig-zag Banksia leaves, Lambs Ears, Sea Holly and Hypericum.

The reception was held inside the amazing central building at Saffire.  The view across the landscape is amazing.  

Table decorations for the centre of each table carried on the limited colour palette.  Brunia, Banksia, Leucadendrons, native foliage and Peppermint gum, with little splashes of blue from the Sea Holly.

Each centrepiece had lichen covered twigs to bring the landscape inside.

For the bridal table, a runner with more of the same ingredients. 

It looks a bit different in the flower shed, the day before!  

And then when it's in its place - ah!

Each place setting had a navy napkin.

And on each plate, the name of the guest with a little floral flourish!  

A Pisa Leucadendron with its silver cone, and a zig zag Banksia leaf - they really do grow like that.  We didn't sit and cut them all out!

Glimpses of the landsacpe through the glass as the sun began to set - so beautiful!

And finally the cake - a beautiful simple semi-naked cake by Cake Chaos with just a few floral touches.

It really was a treat to be involved in this beautiful wedding.  I enjoyed every minute of it!
